[Open Design + Hardware] The role of social networks in social innovation

I'm Francesco Fortino and i was just a reader of this list for several
months, this is the first time i'm writing something so please forgive me
if something goes wrong :)

What Lilian describes in his article is a true matter of interest. Many
people around the world would find really usefull such an Open approach to
Social Innovation.

According to my experience, the situation here in Italy is really
fragmented, and it's sometimes hard to learn those practices, or just even
know if someone is making something.

I'm in Turin, and Social Innovation is one of the most relevant buzzword
here in the city from 2013. There are many projects, some of which even
huge in dimensions, but the practical information about what's going on are
hard to find if you don't go there and ask.

A crucial role in the spread of knowledge, and thus a possible way to share
it, could come from subject-specific social networks.

One example could come from timu https://timu.civiclinks.it/en/ a platform
that tries to focus on civic information, but that has been used along time
even to catch the attention of a particular community to a specific
situation, in urban regeneration practices. But maybe it's still a bit far
from what we need.

Another, more social-innovation-specific example could be
www.babele.cothat focuses on knowledge sharing and crowdsourcing to
improve your project
through the strenght of a subject-specific community. I've learned about
this project during a conference here in Turin.

Anyway, I'm very interested into this subject because of my thesis about
sharing economies and social innovation practices.
