Dear OpenSpending community (and sorry for the crossposting)!
I just wanted to make a small introduction as I will be working with
Open Knowledge on the OpenSpending for the next few months thanks to a
generous fund from the Hewlett Foundation.
My name is Ásta Helgadóttir, I'm from Iceland. I'm a historian by
training and a politician in waiting. Officially I am a deputy member of
the Icelandic parliament for the Icelandic Pirate Party. I'll become a
full time member of the parliament (as in I'm already elected) 10th of
September 2015 where my main focus will be
netneutrality/internet/environment issues AND eveything related to
finances, fiscal bills, etc etc.
I'm not a programmer but a researcher and an outreacher. I want to use
this opportunity to work on Open Spending not only to learn from you
guys but also contribute to a very politically important and interesting
project which I hope will continue to influence how we think about
fiscal budgets and spending of our own money. Wouldn't that be nice?
Beside doing community outreach and management, I'll be working on
publication of public finances in the UK and research the EU budget info.
Looking forward to see where this will take us!
Bests,
Ásta Helgadóttir
