[OpenSpending] Timeouts on JSON API

In the past I could successfully download over the JSON API with a
pagesize of 50 000 but as of now, even a pagesize of 500 results in the
error code 504 (Gateway Time-out) or 503 (service unavailable).
In order to convert the data to RDF for the LinkedSpending project, this
is unfortunately not feasible with such a slow speed and small pagesize.
Is this a temporary occurrence and is there a workaround?
