Good morning all!

Thanks for getting the ball rolling Daniela - let me introduce myself to
the list!

I am the project manager for the POD for the Open Data Institute
<http://theodi.org/> - I have been in post since February and am looking
forward to getting to know all of you on this list in the coming months.

ODI is a London based organisation set up with support from the UK
Government to provide support to the emergence of an open data ecosystem
domestically and internationally. We do training, create tools (for example
the free to use Open Data Certificate <https://certificates.theodi.org/>),
do some research and project work. We also incubate start-ups
<http://theodi.org/start-ups> using open data, and engage quite a bit with
the private sector <http://theodi.org/membership>.

At the moment we are doing some thinking on the leadership, change
management or political side of open data. ODI has a particular mandate
within the POD to support governments who wish to undertake open data
initiatives, and in the conversations I have been having over the past few
months with leaders, the issue of how to bring about change within
government or from a political perspective has been especially pertinent -
any thoughts, insights or work being done on this?

Looking forward to hearing from you all!

Best,

Liz

*Bio*
My background is in learning, research and governance - I joined the ODI
from the Institute for Government
<http://www.instituteforgovernment.org.uk/> - a London based organisation
that supports effective government. In the 3.5 years there, I led the
development of learning products for government leaders (ministers,
opposition and officials) and project managed multiple initiatives -
including a collaboration with a UK research council to support academics
who wish to engage with the policy making process. During my time at IfG, I
was privileged to be asked to spend 6 months supporting the new Cabinet in
Sierra Leona via the African Governance Initiative
<http://www.africagovernance.org/africa>. Before this I worked mainly in
community development, managing an inner city project for migrants and
refugees in Dublin, working with a local organisations on women's
participation in post-conflict Kosovo and Bosnia.
