1. The BBC Archives have a bunch of 'grams' catalogue *data* which
includes, in particular, listings of lots of old recordings (78s etc).
This is a large catalogue coming in with well over a million items and
1.8GB in size.
2. They have supplied us with pretty much all of this data. For the
present this is just so we can look at it and analyze it -- with the
exact rights status of this data has not been determined.

Yes they have. This is very useful as the format is, to say the least,
rather obscure. I know that Nathan has already been having a go at it
and I've now got the full manual (weighing in at a hefty 3MB and 57MB
each -- which is why I haven't yet posted it online).
