[pd-discuss] Public Domain Day 2011 / Which works enter the PD in 2011?

The project that I alluded to in yesterday's email has now
gone live.  All 800,000+ US-public-domain (or otherwise fully
readable) Hathi Trust books are now searchable and browsable
via The Online Books Page.  This provides some new ways of discovering
books in that collection not previously possible, including
browsing the collection through networks of related subjects.

Not all of the "public domain" Hathi titles are readable outside the US,
because they're being conservative about public domain determination
elsewhere.  (Those that aren't readable outside the US are listed
as "US access only".)  If folks are interested, they could see if Hathi
would be open to offers of help in clearing public domain status of
their books in other countries.  (Currently, all Hathi members are
US-based, but their mission page says they're open to worldwide
participation.)
