[Pdr] 19th c. literary gazettes, magazines, etc

Another thing we could do is compile a list of 19th century literary
magazines, gazettes, periodicals, etc. And see if (i) we can find
documentary experts who are good at navigating them and locating gems,
(ii) we can find decent openly licensed scanned versions.

So many important literary figures in the 19th century cut their teeth
writing for these. As well as classic well known periodicals (e.g.
Conan Doyle and other stuff in The Strand), it would be interesting to
look at things like Thomas Carlyle's pieces in Fraser's Magazine
(which Emerson said were brilliant, but that the rest of Fraser's was
junk). Also things like literary magazine in colonial outposts might
be pretty radical. Adam will laugh at this, but the ones that Kipling
contributed to in Calcutta would be interesting to leaf through.
