Hello everyone, Rufus
First let me introduce myself, My name is Otavio Savietto, I'm currently
working at the brazilian Ministry of Culture,
more specificaly at the Digital Culture, the government program for free
knowledge and free media, widelly spread thrugout the country.
It all started with Minister of Culture Gilberto Gil's involvement with the
activists (from various tendencies , open souce software, Free
Knowledge,Free Media, licencing of his songs thru Creative Commons, and many
other actions). The person who materialized the revolutionary ideas behind
Minister Gil's speeches Is Claudio Prado, the current Digital Policies
Coordinator for the Ministry of Culture, who is the head of the Digital
Culture program.
This materialization happened thru the creation of the Free Studio, a kit
composed of computers, digital video cameras, digital photo cameras, audio
mixers, satellite broadband connections and the colaborative development/use
of free/open source software. Those kits are distributed to many Cultural
Hotspots spread all over Brasil, and the production of music, videos,
animation, documentation is colaborative and massive!!!
The reason behind all this explanation is simple: Claudio Prado is trully
interested in participating and to contribute somehow on the WSFII, more
specifically on the Free Culture, Free Media discussion.
We are starting a new international part of the Program, and Claudio Prado
and Minister Gil are going to attend many events in England and Europe
during the following months, and the WSIS at Tunis, Tunisia.
We'd like to hear what you guys think, and we're glad to help with any
questions.
Cheers
Otavio Savietto
