Where can I find the detailed information of the wsfii workshops planned for
Ghana? Where, when, how much, what scope. To forward to a young man from
Kumasi, Ghana. Harry Konnor Tetteh who is trying to figure out how to
connect up 10 schools to the net. He would probably benefit from a hands on
workshop. Below is a description by him of what he is doing. He doesn't have
much backing for what he does. Some of us are trying to see, long distance,
what it would take, wirelessly, to connect the schools to the backbone in
the center of Kumasi, and where support could come from.
"What I have been doing is volunteering in schools to assist students and
teachers to take part in online project learning. I have been doing this for
six years now and one major obstacle is connectivity in the schools. All
along, I have been using the local internet cafes to help students to take
part in this project with my own money and this has really enlightened the
student for better understanding of global issues. Not only that, it has
also helped their personal development by helping them realize their full
potentials which has truly manifested through their outstanding achievements
in various online projects like "Doors to Diplomacy" and "CyberFair" by
GlobalSchoolNet and also "ThinkQuest" by Oracle Education Foundation. Some
of the students also received a special award from the U.S States Department
recently (in July) for their special collaborative project. Harry"
