for scaling, i recommend ogg/theora (or nsv) using icecast2 as reflectors for 
scalable distribution. free2air uses similar icecast networks to distribute 
streams across disparate wireless networks - we're also interested in joining 
like minded on-demand networks such as G.I.S.S. We have local wireless 
network repeaters plus colo hubs in the UK and US.
