[wsfii-discuss] Possibility to meet in London for exchange and if possible to have a quick training in wireless

Hi Johnathan, Thomas and all,

A meeting of any London based wlan, broadband or any old network
development groups would be welcome. SPC.org (thats me) have meeting
facilities in Greenwich to accommodate all comers.. how about first week
of May ? (though not 5th)

Oh, just to clarify,

Wirelesslondon and then .info was established in response to Julian
Priests recommendations made in 'State of wireless London'
http://informal.org.uk/people/julian/publications/the_state_of_wireless_london/
and set out to expose the popularity and propagation of open wireless
and community networks in the London area not least those inspired by
propositions first set out at consume.net in 2000.

Consume.net has been reanimated this year in anticipation of development
activity following the wireless community weekend in Berlin later this
month and later at the catalonia WSFII event in July.. In the meantime a
few users have returned to update their entries in the UK nodemap which
is by todays standards antiquated though still functional. A meta
mapping and configuration utility for open wireless networks is so
overdue, perhaps the guifi.net model is one we can extend to wherever we
work.

We have a very active and growing community wireless network in Deptford
area of south east London where I live called Boundless.coop with 40 +
meshed nodes, perhaps the largest contiguous mesh network in the UK
certainly in London (correct me please) this is despite the many claims
to the contrary made by the London Boroughs and numerous commercial
actors. Its weekly open workshop is on Wednesdays 2-8pm
