dear all,

Knowing there's a small Brazilian cadre here (and curious to know more
about the scene there) i thought it worth sending this news of a new
FaxYourMP-type service just started there - http://www.eleitorativo.org.br/

I've been hearing more from Canada of civic access information
services available on community networks. Nodes that know their postal
codes, emailing the local representative...

mySociety's best friend in Brazil, Creso, has been putting his own
time, energy and money into replicating WriteToThem over there. And
he's done it, with a little help from Matthew:

Postcodes are in the format (postcodes are NNNNN-NNN).

I can't say quite how wonderful this is to see. It is one thing to
talk about the use of open source code in spreading simple democratic
tools, quite another to see one up and working.

Creso - I salute you for making this happen, as well as eveyone
involved conceiving and building both FaxYourMP and WriteToThem. It
remains a simple, brilliant idea that matters to people every day. It
inspired me to start mySociety, it has inspired Creso, and I hope it
inspires others elsewhere to do similarly excellent things.
