Hi

Have been trying to connect a Linksys wrt54gl wifi router to a BSNL
Broadband modem.

Everything seems to be setup but i cannot seem to connect through the
wifi setup

Initially am using the default Linksys firmware as i am unable to find
the friefunk firmware
i get errors when i visit the following site
http://freifunk.net/wiki/FreifunkFirmwareEnglish

same with other links from here: http://ff-firmware.sourceforge.net/ all
the links (i followed) end in a 403 forbidden page error

So till i get the correct firmware am using the default setup as below

SETUP:
Internet used PPoE mode
Username and Password as per what us being used
Used both the Keep Alive and Connect on Demand mode to keep the
connection (none of them worked)

In Router Name - gave it a name

Network Setup : WiFi Router IP gave it as 10.10.10.1

The LAN network output from the wifi is DHCP starting from 10.10.10.200
with DHCP only for 5 users, and DHCP is enabled

**
WIRELESS Setup
SSID - gave one of my own
Wifi Network Mode - mixed (i.e - both b and g )
Channels - first left it at the default 11, when that did not work used
6 - that too did not work

SSID Broadcast - Enabled

Wireless Security - enabled WEP2 - personal which runs the TKIP+AES
algorithim.
Mac filter - disabled

ACCESS RESTRICTIONS - default
APPLICATION AND GAMING- default

ADMINISTRATION:
Management: router password enabled
Web Access: HTTP - enabled
Remote Management - Enabled (since it was not working, i enabled this so
that i could figure out what was not working - will disable it later
when it begins working )
UPnp - Enabled

ADMINISTRATION
Log - enabled
Diagnostics - Nothing required to be done
Factory Default - no change required
Firmware Upgrade - Not Yet as soon as i get my hands on the latest /
bestest opensource firmware
Configuration Management - backed up the Current settings

STATUS
There is a Connect Disconnect Option so after connecting the broadband
router via an ethernet cable i used the connect option -

**
all these settings did not work
i could not ping the broadband router ip - 192.168.1.1

Under Firefox - i reset use of proxy from Use System proxy (default) to
No proxy
That too does not work

***
So now am not sure what i cannot connect to the internet either through
the wifi of through the ethernet (LAN) ports available on the device.
The internet connection works (as this mail evidences)

What could be wrong.

Am wondering if my Ubuntu's firewall would be preventing access to the
net -??

Would appreciate help and advise

Thanks
ram
