[ckan-dev] CKAN 2.4

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to make a quick note about the release cycle and the next
expected release for 2.4

The tech team and steering group are still committed to regular 3 monthly
releases for CKAN. 2.3 was released on 4 March so 2.4 is due out today.

In reality we have a some packaging work to complete for each release and
are still working out the timelines for feature freeze, packaging, testing
and release. Due to the volunteer nature of the project the timeline for
some of these points require time from resources which are also committed
in a number of other ways.

I didn't want the date to slip by without any mention, but there is
attention on this right now and a revised release date is being discussed
within the tech team members.

Even if 2.4 ships a little late the next release for 2.5 will remain on
target for release on 4 September.
