I think ian's concern is just that the Board would be gradually
stepping back (one reason why we are hiring the PC). However, I don't
think there is any reason that board members who want to help out or
get more involved should be prevented from doing so :)

I'd certainly welcome (but do not require!) assistance from fellow
board members in making doing a probation assessment.
