[MyData & Open Data] Counting down to the Open Data & Privacy workshop

Hi all,
With just two weeks to go for the Open Data & Privacy workshop, we would
like to remind you that there is are still opportunities to participate, so
do email me and let me know if you plan on coming along, and if you want
some expenses covered.

Below is an update just sent out to participants already confirmed to
attend.

Dear Participant,

We are writing to confirm your participation in our upcoming Open Data and
Privacy Working Group Meeting taking place on June 10th and 11th, 2014 in
London at the Centre for Creative Collaboration.  During the meeting we
will explore a variety of topics, but will definitely give focus to the
following :

- De-identification, anonymisation and pseudonymisation of data

- Understanding the legislative framework - data protection, FOI, etc. -
and key rulings, (for example, the recent ECJ case on ‘the right to be
forgotten’)

- Monetisation and the personal data economy: ownership or control

This will be a collaborative participatory event and we will involve you in
open discussions that will create strong, actionable outputs that will
carry future work forward.  During our time together we are hoping to:

- Explore other key issue areas around open data and privacy that need to
be addressed (for example in relation to : health data, geodata, retail
data, & government research/admin data)

- Start building some guidelines, principles or other tools to help others
dealing with open data and privacy

- Identify key topics for the commissioning of white papers and build
smaller working parties to help out

- Flesh out a roadmap for future activities.

We will be starting on both days promptly at 9am.  On June 10th we will be
ending the day at 5:30pm and on June 11th we will be ending the day at
3:00pm.  We will take an hour long break for lunch on each day.

Please come prepared to discuss current work you are doing around open data
and privacy or work you hope to do in the future. You will have plenty of
time to discuss your projects and efforts in small groups, however if you
are interested in presenting a project to the larger group, please contact
our facilitator, Dirk Slater (dirk at fabriders.net) directly.
