Hi all,
I've also been asked by Johnathan to introduce myself.
So, I'm Iván Sánchez Ortega AKA ivansanchez AKA @RealIvanSanchez. Right now
I'm woking as a PHP developer, but I'm a member of the OpenStreetMap
Foundation and also a member of the Spanish Spatial Data Infrastructure
Working Group (or GT-IDEE). The OSMF runs the www.openstreetmap.org project,
whereas the IDEE encompasses most Spanish government agencies that deal with
geospatial data (geographical institutes, etcetera).
For the last few years I've been in touch with the SDI Community, spreading
the "Raw Data Now" mantra and the definition of freedom (see, for example,
http://blog.okfn.org/2010/03/15/the-cake-test-of-freedom/ ). My experience is
that gov agencies want to publish data, but don't do so in a free/open/libre
manner.
I'd like to see a spatial track at the OGDcamp - spatial data is plentiful,
and different from purely alphanumeric data. Besides, it's always fun to point
out why the INSPIRE initiative doesn't quite get it.
Cheers,
--
