Hi all,

following Jonathan's suggestion, I'd like to introduce myself to the list.

My name is Federico Morando and I'm the managing director and a research
fellow of the NEXA Center for Internet and Society [0], a research
center that is active on various open data related fronts, from research
to policy support and going through specific operative projects.

As some of you probably know, we coordinated the COMMUNIA European
thematic network on the digital public domain [1] and we currently lead
the LAPSI European thematic network on the legal aspects of public
sector information [2]. We're also part of the Share-PSI.eu initiative
in the context of the European Digital Agenda [3] and member of EVPSI, a
multidisciplinary research project about PSI [4]. Thanks to these
experiences, we supported the regional government of Piedmont in
launching the first open data portal in Italy [4], we co-organized the
first Italian open data call for ideas [5] and we're involved in the
first (forthcoming) apps competition in Italy [7]. Together with OKFN,
we're also supporting IT.CKAN.NET. (And I'm quite sure I'm forgetting
something, since open data is really a hot topic for us right now!)

Being one of the enthusiastic participants in the first OGDCamp, I'm
happy to be involved in organizing this edition, which - I'm sure - will
be even better than the (already excellent) first one!

All the best,

Federico

This program intends to improve people's lives in low and middle income countries by releasing data that matters. We plan to do in-country implementation of OGD programs establishing a local sustainable OGD ecosystem, build open replicable pieces that could be of use to others, and support a global community around some OGD topics.
