Interesting. What was the reasoning for registering it as an incorporated association rather than a cooperative?
That could be a good topic for a blog post.

OPEN KNOWLEDGE FOUNDATION AUSTRALIA INC.
Reg number: A0062603B
Date of incorporation: 24/02/2015
You can find it here:
http://www.consumer.vic.gov.au/clubs-and-not-for-profits/incorporated-associations/search-for-an-incorporated-association
The rules are here:
http://www.consumer.vic.gov.au/clubs-and-not-for-profits/incorporated-associations/running-an-incorporated-association
However, 'Open Knowledge' is the correct reference internationally and 'Open Knowledge Australia' is the correct reference locally.
Acronyms are discouraged but unavoidable. OKAU Is what I use. It is easily confused as the website domain is okfn.org<http://okfn.org> and the twitter handle is okfnau.
Formally, use Open Knowledge Australia. I would suggest OKAU for the acronym :)
Cheers,
Steven

Hi all,
I recall discussions a while back about the acronym for the Open Knowledge Foundation Network Australia. I can't recall if the decision was to drop the word Foundation or drop the word Network. I've seen people use different acronyms here and I'd like clarification on what is the correct nomenclature and acronym to use when referring to the organisation that hosts this list and associated activities.
thanks,
