In this blog post I address the question of whether Intellectual Property
rights stifle learning and innovation by adding a cost to the utilization
of knowledge.

I maintain that they do. But, to understand the trade-offs involved, I
suggest that it is best to switch from the traditional factors of
production - Land, Labor, and Capital - to the factors suggested by Kenneth
Boulding: Knowledge, Energy, and Materials.
