> Applications are open for the Energy and Environment Open Data Challenge. We’re also pleased to announce we will be holding the Challenge Weekend in Bristol in March and that Bristol City Council will be making available new open data for this Challenge.

> This Challenge invites teams including businesses, start-ups, social enterprises, community groups, academics, students and special interest groups to use open data to build services that support communities to either:
> 1. Group buy their energy and save money;

> 2. Undertake community based energy efficiency interventions; or
>
> 3. Start to generate their own energy

> To enter the challenge please read the background information here and then sign up toour participant platform.
> Full details on how to apply as well as links to the datasets which we are highlighting are published here. Open datasets have been collated in this Google Doc. You'll find two tabs - one for Bristol specific data and a second for national datasets. We’ve also blogged about the background to the Challenge here.

> We’re holding a meet up in Bristol on 3rd March to talk through the challenge and develop ideas. If you’d like to attend please sign up on Eventbrite.

> The deadline for uploading your project on CollabFinder in order to be selected for our Creation Weekend in Bristol is 16th March.

> Key Dates

> 3 March - join us for an informal meetup in Bristol (venue TBC) from 18:00 - 20:30 where we will share information, generate some ideas and make new contacts.

> 16 March - deadline for all project ideas to be submitted on our CollabFinderplatform.
>
> 22 + 23 March - *hold this date* as selected teams will be invited to join us for the Creation Weekend in Bristol, to build their ideas and pitch to compete for one of three £5 000 prizes.
