This is a good point and David has indicated this is the default
hashtag. I'm sorry to not to have chimed

I think the challenge is that even I (someone in the know) get a bit
confused ;-) (by default i'd think it was #odd but that's just odd ;-)
but we've got #odhd - which makes me think of adhd and i'm not sure
what "h" stands for - hackathon / hackday / hack i'm guessing, but
which creates a bit of a disjunction between the event "open data day"
and "open data hack day")

That's definitely a possible solution.

I guess we should have a mild preference for one and approximately one
hashtag to keep things simple for people ...
