Friends,

I just wanted to be sure that you are aware that the next Knight News Challenge, which runs Feb. 12-March 18, focuses on Open Gov. Here's more<http://www.knightfoundation.org/blogs/knightblog/2013/1/30/news-challenge-open-gov-launches-feb-12/>. Can you spread the word with your community? We're looking for new and innovative ideas that make communities more informed and engaged.

When we open Monday, we'll be explaining that the challenge will run on the Open IDEO platform, which has some interesting potential for your community. That's because it will open with a one-week "inspiration phase" where we hope lots of people – including non-techie municipal officials – will lay out problems or opportunities for open gov in their communities. Coders can decide to tackle these problems, or others.

Contact me if you want to know more, and let me know if there is anything Knight Foundation can do to help with International Open Data Day.

Thanks and regards, Andrew
