[open-development] Attending Open Knowledge Conference? 4 things you need to know.

Hi all, if you are attending this year's Open Knowledge Conference, there's a couple of things you need to know:

1. The schedule is now pretty much finalised - you can find it here: http://okcon.org/schedule/ - it's looking really good!

2. If you're down as a speaker or are running/involved in a workshop in the Open Development stream, please share your contact details with the team so we can send you instructions and stay in touch over the next two weeks and during the conference http://piratepad.net/okcon13-opendevcontributers.

2. There were travel and accommodation bursaries available this year through OKFN, so hopefully you were able to get some help with expenses. If you're still struggling, it might be worth a shout out to the open development e-list to see if anyone can help.

3. We're currently looking for some help during the Conference to make sure the Open Development sessions run smoothly - basically just checking back with the organisers and facilitators that everyone is happy and doing a bit of trouble shooting. If you'd like to help out, please add your name here: http://piratepad.net/okcon13-opendevcontributers

4. For those around on Thursday 19 Sept, there's a great open workshop event on Effectiveness and Ethics in Open Development/Data. http://okfnpad.org/opendevwg-okcon13 Please sign up to get involved! We've had requests to repeat it at other events in October and November, so you'll be the first to take part in a very popular event.

Just as a bit of a background for those who attended OKFest last year > Open Knowledge Conference is very different to Open Knowledge Festival - it's much shorter and time is much tighter. Open Development is co-located with Open Sustainability on one stream so we've tried to accommodate both topics as best we can and also avoid clashes with the Open Governance/Data stream.

Setting up the streams has been a very different process to OK Festival, which was much more collaborative, because of these limits. The organisers have been wonderful though and have bent over backwards to help in any way they can. Therefore please forgive any unavoidable clashes, and find space once you're there to get together to talk and collaborate and give impromptu lightning talks!

Kind regards,

Sarah Johns
on behalf of the Open Development and Sustainability stream
