[open-economics] Some thoughts on S&P's USD 1.4 Billion Settlement

Rating agencies may not have been able to create so many distortions if the data and models they used were open.  I made this argument in a 2013 Guardian opinion piece:  http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/feb/25/moodys-sp-credit-rating-agencies-need-reform.  I hope others on this list find the idea of opening up the credit rating system interesting.
