Hi all,

I have been in touch with Marc, from Wiki Rating
<http://www.wikirating.org/> project. Since we are looking for some
projects to get the work group started again, I have proposed a few topics
and Marc found an interesting opportunity to let us know about Wiki Rating.

*"Wikirating is a worldwide independent, transparent and collaborative
> organization for credit ratings. It offers an open, editable centralized
> place for all credit rating related topics, and credit ratings for
> countries, corporations and other financial products. Wikirating unites
> rating experts, economists and normal people, similar to Wikipedia, but
> with a stronger and stricter peer review concept."*

It is a very interesting topic of research and it is something I believe we
can make an impact on Economics, by changing the rating standards
worldwide. This project can close the gap between academics, researchers,
passionates and investors.
Marc has discussed with Dorian Crede, the founder of Wiki Rating, about the
possibility of getting OE involved. Dorian has kindly replied with some
suggestions for us to get involved. These are not the only ways of getting
involved, but they are for an initial phase, since we are still trying to
get the group active again.

Their proposal:
"
We also agree that there should be a relatively narrow focus at first and
would like to suggest sovereign ratings as a starting point. Would you
like to take over the sovereign rating methodology (SWI)? We believe it
needs two types of improvements: (1) more frequent updates through the use
of crowdsourcing and automated data loading and (2) model recalibration
(changing factor weighting and possibly the factors themselves to derive
index implied ratings that are more intuitive and credible.
"

What do you guys think?
I will supervise this project, even though I can't contribute alone to it.
I'm particularly interested in proposal #2, but I will get means to fulfil
#1. Nevertheless, I believe this is a team job that requires tones of
research and contributions for a lot of areas.

Please let us know your interest to get involved in this project. I will
list the people interested in doing so. I have one week to let Wiki Rating
know if OE can, or cannot, contribute to the project.

Best Regards / Obrigado e com os melhores cumprimentos,
Gustavo
