[Open-education] R: introduction - POERUP

We will be glad in POERUP to collaborate where we can. We wish the German conference the best wishes.

We are not mandated to produce an OER policy document for Germany but you are welcome to work with us to adapt our EU-level document to the German context, noting of course the autonomous roles in education of the Länder which makes any such document more complicated. Our project is tasked to write OER policy documents for Wales, Scotland, England, Ireland, France, Netherlands, Spain and Poland, in each case written by or with the help of one of our partners or a leading expert on the country. For all these countries there is a vital role for experts to comment on and thus help us to refine the documents.

We are having our final International Advisory Committee for POERUP within the Media & Learning conference in Brussels in December (http://www.media-and-learning.eu) and are looking out for policy-aware ICT in education experts from across the EU interested in OER – if anyone can demonstrate such experience and is coming to Media & Learning anyway please let me know.

Hi everybody, 

I'd like to continue with introductions.

My name is Markus Deimann, I am working in the position of an assistant professor at the FernUniversität in Hagen (the only public distance teaching university in Germany; http://www.fernuni-hagen.de/english/). Since 2007, I have been working in several OER-projects that were aimed at disseminating OER on a global scale. Unfortunately, Germany is a blind spot in OER, but things are (hopefully) about to change (e.g. first OER conference in Berlin last weekend). 

My research interest is on the philosophical and educational implications of OER and MOOCs. I have just published a paper in IRRODL that may give you an insight in my work: http://www.irrodl.org/index.php/irrodl/article/view/1370

If there is any interest on collaborating on critical inquiries on MOOCS and OER (e.g. position papers, workshops etc), I would be more than happy to support this task.

LinkedUp is encouraging release and use of public, open data on the Web, in particular by educational institutions and organisations.   Through the Group we want to build a global community around open education. We want to bring together the pockets of activity that are happening (so please let us know about your projects!) and the people that are working on this area. We also want to enable this new community to begin to work on global, cross-sectoral initiatives that consider all aspects of open education - from OERs and data, to changes in learning practice, policy and culture. 

  It's going to be a big task and we're going to need some help!

        I'd like to introduce myself, as I signed up recently for this 
        list. My name is Alek Tarkowski, I work in Poland for at an NGO 
        called Centrum Cyfrowe, where much of our work focuses on 
        openness, open education in particular, and copyright reform 
        issues. I am also Public Lead of Creative Commons Poland. 

        I would also like to point you to a new Creative Commons project 
        that I am leading, which is the "Open Educational Resources Policy 
        for Europe" project. As the title implies, the project has a 
        strong focus on promoting an open policy for publicly funded 
        educational resources, and a European scope. You can read a bit

        I am sorry that I cannot make it to OKCon for the launch of the 
        OKFN Education Group. We had a project workshop just this weekend,
