Happy new year to everyone,

It's shaping up to be an exciting year for open GLAM with a whole host of
groups, such as Europeana [1] and Wikimedia [2], set to launch some great
projects that will see more cultural heritage data under an open license
than ever before. The Open Knowledge Foundation will be continuing to build
a coalition of organisations that are working in this area.

For one, we will continue to run events across Europe bringing together key
stakeholders and groups, see the write up of our event at the Wellcome
Collection in London at the end of last
year<http://openglam.org/2011/12/07/open-data-and-cultural-heritage-workshop/>[3].
So watch this space!

We also want to use the Open Knowledge Foundation's web presence to make it
easier for everyone working to open up cultural heritage content and data
to find out about each other's projects and push them out to a wider
audience.

In order to kick start this we are going to be doing a couple of things in
the coming weeks, which we need some help with:

(1) Building the Buddy Press Group on the Open Knowledge Foundation website
for all those interested in open cultural heritage and open GLAM [4]. Please
do sign up, it only takes a moment <http://okfn.org/groups/open-glam/>;

(2) If anyone wants to let the world know about interesting projects
they're doing with open cultural heritage content and data, please drop me
an email and we will cross post information on the projects to the Open
GLAM blog <http://openglam.org/> [5] or, if you're interested, you could
write your own blog post for openglam.org;

(3) Try and use #openglam when Tweeting all things to do with open cultural
heritage.

That's it for now and I hope to be talking to many of you in the coming
weeks,

Sam
