Dear all,
If you’re interested in how open data can be used to create the kind of
society where everyone has access to the information they need to make
informed decisions about everything from their spending habits to where
their taxes are going, then don’t miss this year’s Open Knowledge Festival
<http://2014.okfestival.org/>. Taking place in Berlin from July 15th - 17th
at the Kulturbrauerei, the event will bring together an international crowd
of thinkers, makers, developers and activists to consider how we translate
“Open Minds to Open Action”.
The programme <http://2014.okfestival.org/festival-programme/> for the
festival is now online - and we’re also sharing additional information
about sessions, speakers and fringe events on the Festival blog
<http://2014.okfestival.org/>. OpenGLAM will be hosting a number of
sessions during OKFestival, as well as a dedicated OpenGLAM fringe event on
the morning prior to the festival start - an overview of all this is
available from our blog
<http://openglam.org/2014/06/05/join-openglam-at-the-upcoming-okfestival/>.
The Festival begins with the opening evening Open Knowledge Fair on Tuesday
15th July from 6 - 8.30pm. This dynamic start to the festival will be
comprised of demo stands, performances by artists, interactive hands-on
things to do and make, and the opportunity to enjoy music and drinks.
The core programme takes place on Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17th July.
Both days will begin with keynotes talks from speakers including Beth
Noveck (The GovLab), Eric Hysen (Google), Beatriz Busaniche (Fundacion Via
Libre) and Patrick Alley (Global Witness). Keynotes are followed by
community-led sessions which fall into one of three broads tracks;
knowledge, tools and society. Session formats include workshops, hacks and
discussions.
We’re expecting attendees from over 60 countries and would love you to add
your voice to the conversations. Tickets
<http://2014.okfestival.org/tickets/> are still available with a 10%
discount for groups of 5 or more.
Hope to see you in Berlin next month!
Best,
Lieke Ploeger
