Some researchers have access to the full Twitter archive (e.g., at MIT Media Lab <http://newsoffice.mit.edu/2014/twitter-funds-mit-media-lab-program-1001> ).

Maybe that helps if you know someone who works there.

Hope you're well.

The Library of Congress hasn't traditionally provided access to its database of Tweets- from what I can tell it is essentially a free backup service for Twitter (perhaps something to explore at a later date). Have barked up this tree before and gotten nowhere.

QCRI or Global Pulse may be worth exploring as possible sources of data.

The Library of Congress has twitter data since tweet #1 but I am not sure how to get access to it. Another method is to contact GNIP (recently bought by Twitter) and discuss access.
