Here is an interview by Richard Poynder about SJS (www.sjscience.org
[1]), a new platform to reinvent scholarly communication as a community
process. It provides a consistent solution to the problems of peer
review, evaluation, open access, costs, reproducibility and
collaboration between scholars as well as novel metrics for funders and
evaluation committees to gradually get rid of the impact factor. It is
preceded by a thoughtful introduction on the need to change current
strategies for Open Access and turn it into a bottom-up movement.
