Dear members of the Open Science community,

We know that many of you are actively working with mobile and web
technologies, as well as hardware-hacking for science, so we'd like to
invite you to join us at the 8th edition of London’s Annual Tech Fest - Over
the Air 2016 <http://overtheair.org/> - coming up soon on the 25th & 26th
of November, in St. John’s Hoxton.

What is Over the Air?

Over the Air <http://overtheair.org/> is a 2-day Hackathon + Workshops
event that features 2 Keynote Speakers, 10 Lightning Talks, 12 Hackathon
Award Categories, 36 hours of Hacking, 40 Workshops, and 500+ participants.

It takes place at St. John’s Hoxton, London, starting at 9:30 on Friday the
25th and ending at 16:00 on Saturday the 26th. All are welcome to camp
overnight on the grounds or sleep in the main building or Marquees.

The workshop programme is put on by the community, for the community - so
if you’re able to lift the hood on some cool emerging tech, new OS releases
or dev platforms; or have some awesome APIs or SDKs to show-off, then do
please submit a workshop proposal
<http://overtheair.org/blog/participate/submit-proposals/>. If 5 minutes of
inspiration or entertainment is more your style, then please propose a
Lightning Talk <http://overtheair.org/blog/lightning-talk-proposals>!

What are we Hacking?

Mobile apps, mobile web, mobile devices, prototyping platforms such as
Arduino, mBed & Raspberry Pi, wearable technology, robotics, LEGO
Mindstorms …everything and anything, with a focus on connected devices and
“things.”

So, is this MY kind of event?

Over the Air is an event that defies easy description (check out our Community
Flickr Pool <https://www.flickr.com/groups/overtheair/pool/> and OTA15
wrap-up <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLex28KNXJQ> for a flavour).

It’s a celebration of creativity. It’s a festival of all things hackable.
It’s a place where attendees can learn about technologies, trends and
techniques. It’s a sleep-over. It’s a two day party. It’s an event where
practitioners of creative and technical disciplines can come together to
learn from each other.

It’s about recognizing software development as a creative discipline. It’s
an opportunity to build new relationships. It’s a space where you can build
cool stuff and show it off to an appreciative crowd. It’s all these things.
And by the way, it’s free.

We promise the following: if you attend, you will learn about stuff you
didn’t know about before, will have the opportunity to meet and collaborate
with people you haven’t met before, will be inspired, and possibly amazed.
By the end of the day Saturday, you will definitely be exhausted. We’re not
saying it will change your life, but we’re not saying it won’t either.

We hope to see you in a few weeks!
