The European Commission’s FAIR data expert group <http://ec.europa.eu/transparency/regexpert/index.cfm?do=groupDetail.groupDetail&groupID=3464> is hosting its second open community session <https://github.com/FAIR-Data-EG/consultation/blob/master/community-sessions.md> on Wednesday 26th July from 10:00-12:00 CEST. You may already have seen the call for contributions <https://ec.europa.eu/research/openscience/pdf/fair_eg.pdf> and the public GitHub <https://github.com/FAIR-Data-EG/consultation>. The aim of these open community sessions is to provide a forum where you can discuss ideas directly with Expert Group members and each other.
We’re particularly keen to hear from all those stakeholders who play a role in facilitating FAIR data, specifically Research Infrastructures and e-Infrastructures, ESFRIs, domain data centres, learned societies, universities, funders, publishers and policymakers. Our remit is to make recommendations on turning FAIR data into reality, so we want to understand your existing commitments, activities, plans and concerns regarding future work in this area.
If you would like to join the discussion, please register at https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/74701203796494338 <https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/74701203796494338> and join the webinar on the day. The event is designed as a consultation: there will be a short introduction to the group and our objectives, but there’s not a formal presentation and strict agenda. This session will be driven by you and your contributions, so drop in at any time during the two hour window and take the opportunity to share your ideas. You can also leave whenever you like – this is going to be freeform.
Please take a look through the call for contributions <https://github.com/FAIR-Data-EG/consultation#what-to-contribute> and the GitHub comments <https://github.com/FAIR-Data-EG/consultation/issues>in advance of the call. Then just sign on in, post your own suggestions, questions or comments, or otherwise help us to power up the wisdom of the crowd!
