[wdmmg-discuss] #open3rdsector wdmmg-discuss Digest, Vol 10, Issue 16

Thanks for pointing it out David.

If it's possible for our cuts data to be imported into
http://wherearethecuts.org/
<http://wherearethecuts.org/http://wherearethecuts.org/> then happy for
that to happen. There are 614 responses but 555 of those are from the
Arts Council list, so 59 are unique. I'll input them manually if needed
but it would be much easier if it could be imported automatically.

We're hoping to have a big push of the survey post-spending review, and
use our networks to capture what's happening to voluntary organisations,
so I'll also promote the wherearethecuts.org at the same time.

Thanks
Dave

This is excellent, very engaging and neat to explore.

In addition to reporting a cut, what other ways would you like
people to
make more sense of the reported cuts?

	For example this cut
http://wherearethecuts.org/reports/view/2234, there
is no amount given, so are people here encouraged to read the
source and
add comments on how much is cut?

First off: this is great! Brilliant idea to re-purpose
Ushashidi.
	Really, really good. Some thoughts:

	1. I've been working a little bit now you have automated other
data to
hand enter the (limited) detailed cuts info we had from:
	http://wheredoesmymoneygo.org/cuts/ effort.

	One example is:
<http://www.culture.gov.uk/news/media_releases/7297.aspx>

Most of these cuts are to general UK-wide bodies (e.g. UK Film
Council). At the moment I am coding these geographically as
London. Is
	this sensible?

	2. At the moment it appears a hand-entered cut has to be
manually
approved before it goes live -- any way to bring in more
moderators ;)

	3. Second Lisa's comments about amounts. Could not see a field
to
enter the amount (which would be useful to have -- when it is
known).

	Rufus

PS: if you want OKF logo you can find it here:

I'm going to repurpose the comments to ask people to add
specific bits
of information. This will be especially useful for the schools
data -
was it just a couple of new computers or replacing a leaking
roof etc.

Yes, i'm going to make the news link much more obvious. When it
gets
down to a local level, the amounts are not always that clear, or
might
be announced over different time periods, so the context is
important.

hmm. If possible I think we should try and find the next level
down.
e.g. if the film council is going, we should be able to get a
list fo
	all active programmes.

I'll add a 'Get involved' section to the about page asking for
moderators and data sleuths. Should I point them at this list
or if
not can we have a team@ email address?

I think both, but often the email alias is better so I'll set up
team at wherearethecuts.org now and forward to you, Jordan Hatch
(you
happy for this Jordan?), Lisa and myself.

	Hiya,
Let me know if/when it's at a point where we want public help
and I'll tweet it. Just let me know specifically the needs and where
folk should go. Would suggest this list might not be the best for that
as could get confusing and over run.

Yes, but I've been quite lucky so far - e.g. both Advantage West
Midlands funded regionally and the Arts Council funded
nationally, but
I've managed to get the the details of the actual programmes.
