Hi Peter, and welcome !
I have recently joined the pd-discuss list myself, so I will take this
occasion to introduce myself as well.
My name is Primavera De Filippi and I am a PhD researcher at the Law
Departement of the European University Institute in Florence, currently
working under the supervision of Prof. Giovanni Sartor.
I have been interested in arts and technology for a long time, and I am now
increasingly interested in the impact that new technologies may have over
the copyright regime, a topic which I am currently addressing in my PhD
thesis. More precisely, the focus of my research is on the interraction that
exists between public and private ordering (i.e. DRM systems and Open
Content licenses) when it comes to the regulation of information. In
particular, the main objective of my thesis is to establish an ontological
framework capable of identifying the constitutive elements of a copyright
work, and, most importantly, to provide an accurate definition of what
constitutes a digital copy.
I recently started to work together with Jonathan in establishing a broader
and more concentrated network of potential collaborators for the Public
Domain Calculator.
