Hi all,

here's an update on a new workshop track to organise the 2006 event
which is being organised by me, arun juergen and saul.

wsfii2006 organisers workshop
-----------------------------

After the Djursland event we decided to have a small 2005 event in
London and then to hold a larger more international 2006 event in
India. Apart from the thematic tracks one of the main activitites for
the 2005 prepcon therefore is to start the longer term organisation of
the 2006 Indian event.

To make a start on this we're organising this workshop and arranged
funding from the Open Society Insititute to fund flying about 10 of
the potential organisers of the 2006 event to London mainly from
India.

The 2006-organisers track is of course open to any who would like to
contribute before, during and after the workshop week. The current
plan is that the London event is the first of a series of regional
prepcon's in a similar style which will each form their own local
organisers tracks. This workshop shouldn't take up all of the time of
those involved so we hope that people will be able to take part in the
other tracks as well.

status
------

We have had preliminary approval for the funding and have asked Arun
to nominate a list of Indian and South Asian regional participants and
we will support as many people as we can from that list. Unfortunatley
the funding will not support EU or US participants as it comes from a
primarily development fund, so I hope that other tracks can help with
getting other 2006 organisers to London. We will also try and get at
least one representative from Africa and Latin America drawn from
wireless roadshow contacts if we can within the budget - though it is
already looking stretched as it is.

what's next
-----------

complete funding negotiation
formal invites
travel arrangements
workshop agenda

cheers
