Hi folks
  
  I only skim-read this so far:

  but it looks as though community owned wireless nets are
  a good antidote for many of the ills described at the start of the
  piece. Why, they could even be joined together bottom-up to form a sort  of 'internet'! </heavy irony> (yes that's an unbalanced tag  too..). 
  
  Trouble starts when manufacturers make chipsets that only join things with SSIDs of McDonalds, Aol etc., another deeper problem.
  
  The whole piece, even when skimmed, is a pretty good read.
