I've seen G.I.S.S. involved in streaming lots of interesting projects,
but have never seen it presented on its own, or managed to get my head
around it properly with the scattered documentation. It seems like the
perfect fit for streaming WSFII activities because it's FLOSS from the
ground up, and based on an existing decentralized network of peers..
perhaps if we can use this list to consolidate questions and answers,
then write some docs, we could make it work for WSFII.

I have lots of questions:

- Is G.I.S.S. is a network of interconnected servers that provide
FLOSS-based ogg theora video streaming capabilities for like-minded
  groups to use?

- Can WSFII use this network to stream activities from Dharamasala?

- What kind of equipment/software do we need to provide a stream source
to the G.I.S.S. network? Which online resources do you recommend for
helping with setting up a stream source?

- What kind of equipment/software do we need to watch a stream? What
online resources do you recommend for helping with that?

- Can groups who have contributed to WSFII join the network and offer
resources? If so, what's needed? For example, What other kind of help
does the GISS project need that we might be able to offer

- I think there are lots of other questions - such as how to integrate
IRC chat with streaming, and how to allow the non-amplified,
non-formal parts of the programme to be streamed and shared as well as
the official bits.. but perhaps we can develop this thread and
document it on the WSFII wiki.

Erm. I don't know which wiki to use though... any offers?
