Investigating further, it seems that having two different versions of
Django loaded with mod_python in the same Apache (-worker or -prefork)
causes lots of trouble.
Made all applications use the same Django (0.96.3), and all seems to be
working well now.
As discussed in various places, the same problems cropped up with
mpm-prefork as with mpm-worker, but at a lower frequency with mpm-prefork.
Best wishes,
John.
