Minutes of Meeting 3 of the Scottish Government Data Management Board are now available online (though the URL is somewhat puzzling):

While the accompanying papers have not been made publicly available, there are notes of interesting discussions on a number of topics, including:

* Big Data and Data Science
* Data Innovation Lab update
* Scottish Data Action Plan

Future plans include

> a Data Innovation symposium early Q2 2014 which would bring together the heads of the innovation ‘projects’ and ideally be chaired by Scottish Ministers. This would make the case for future collaboration and co-operation. Andrew Morris initiated a discussion around the benefit of a achieving a ‘clustering effect’ within Scotland citing the London Tech City cluster as an example.

Let’s hope that open data will be prominent in this proposed symposium.

Regards,

Ewan
