Greetings from the UK and the Netherlands,
We would like to share an ongoing informal survey<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1WPS-KJptUJ-o8SXtg00llcxq0IKJu8eO6Ege_GrLaNc/edit#gid=1216556120> of open access policies in the GLAM sector. It examines how GLAMs make data – whether digital objects, metadata or text – available for reuse. At the moment it includes more than 300 institutions from around the world that make anywhere from some to all data openly available to the public under the Open Knowledge International<https://opendefinition.org/> principles for reuse.
The survey is intended to be a starting point for people who want to find and use open collections or data. It may also serve as a resource for GLAMs exploring open access data and policy development. We would be very grateful if you could forward the survey to colleagues in the sector, especially those who might have open access contributions to send along.
You can read more about the survey and its rationale here<https://docs.google.com/document/d/15U__Z50WCUM_OWQ9HKLvLMlkcMoCN68FLVl9OKJQ8yY/>. This is a personal project started this spring by open culture advocates Andrea Wallace<http://andeewallace/> (University of Exeter) and Douglas McCarthy<http://culturedoug/> (Europeana). Feedback, corrections and suggestions are very welcome: please contact @AndeeWallace<https://twitter.com/AndeeWallace> and @CultureDoug<https://twitter.com/CultureDoug> on Twitter or comment directly in the sheet.
