[open-science] Open Science at Wikimania (Final Call for Submissions is 31 March)

Hi All
Is anyone submitting open science related proposals to Wikimania? I've just
had a look in the open scholarship submissions [1] and there appears to be:
Open notebook science [2]
Open Science Overview (from our very own Graham Steel!) [3]
Wikipedia as a research environment - making it better [4]
In particular, given that PMR is giving a keynote I think we should
consider submitting a content mining related proposal, particularly as this
could liberate a lot of data/images and other scholarly objects for
Wikimedia Commons and other wiki related uses.
Unfortunately, I'll be in thesis editing phase so probably can't attend
myself - is anyone else planning to go and interested in doing something
around getting content for Wikimedia projects through content mining?
ALSO: note there is a fringe event open scholarship hackathon, 19-20 July
in London if anyone would like to go! [5]
Jenny

Subject: [OKFN-EN] Wikimania: Final Call for Submissions
To: okfn-en at lists.okfn.org
Hi all,
As you may know, Wikimedia's annual flagship event Wikimania is coming to
London for the first time in August. This will be the largest gathering of
Wikimedians ever, a 4000-person conference, unconference, festival, meetup,
workshop, hackathon, and party, spread over five days in The Barbican
Centre, and I'm hoping many from OKFN will be attending.
I'm writing to let you know that the call for submissions closes on the
31st, so this weekend is your last chance to put something together if
you'd like to present. It's a fairly informal event, so submissions don't
have to be very developed; just some idea of who you are, what you're
working on and what you'd like to talk about; the event page will give you
some ideas of what kind of material will be covered: www.wikimanialondon.org
Any questions, for more details or if you have trouble submitting, don't
hesitate to contact me directly.
