[open-science] Call for Abstracts: Open Data Research 2015 #OpenRD2015

Dear Open Science community,

We are pleased to open the abstract submission for presentations at the 
conference Open Research Data: Implications for Science and Society 
(#OpenRD2015).

The conference will take place on May 28-29, 2015, in Warsaw, Poland. It 
is organized by the Open Science Platform, an initiative of the 
Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computer Modelling of the 
University of Warsaw. The conference is held under the patronages of the 
Research Data Alliance, the OpenAIRE2020 project, and the Ministry of 
Science and Higher Education of Poland.

All details concerning conference scope, abstract submission, 
participant registration, important dates, program and confirmed 
speakers are available on the conference website:

Deadline for abstract submission is March 31, 2015.
Deadline for participant registration is April 30, 2015.

Abstracts related to all the following topics are welcome:

1. Data sharing, data publishing: policies, strategies and incentives

     Foundational challenges: what is data at the community and 
cross-community level
     Data management policies: institutional, publisher, funder and 
national level
     Open data policies and mandates
     Current and future strategies for open research data
     Incentives for data sharing by the scientific community
     Data quality control

2. Tools and methodologies for opening data

     New software and e-infrastructure requirements
     Data archives and repositories
     Data publishing workflows
     File formats and metadata standards
     Interoperability
     Data journals
     Data citation
     Data management on the researcher’s level
     Long-term preservation

3. Re-use of data for science and society: opportunities and challenges

     Data mining
     Interdisciplinarity – promoting the cross-use of data
     Re-use by citizen science
     Re-use by data journalism
     Data collection development in libraries and other institutions
     Legal challenges – copyright, sui generis database right, sensitive 
and confidential data
     Ethical issues related to data opening
     Social and economic impact of open research data

Abstracts for 10-minute presentations (in English) should be submitted 
by e-mail to conference at pon.edu.pl. The length of an abstract should not 
exceed 400 words.
