Josh,

I am sure this would be useful but it will depend on finding the "right"
email threads. I would expect that a lot of work will have been done in
this - although I don't know details. How are you going to find the right
threads? and it will depnd very much on the discipline of the posters -
many include huge previous trails of replies to replies whereas some
(including me) try to excise these.

Are you expecting this to be done by humans? or machines? or both. Machine
analysis detecting the sentiment of the replies and summarising them will
be hard... Not impossible, but not easy.
